Past
It is said that man came to Inatika from another world. It is unclear why they had come. Some say it was just the simple desire to explore other lands. Others that they were fleeing from something. Whatever the truth, the thing that was clear was they could never go back. They had to make a new home for themselves within the strange land they found themselves within. They knew that such a task would not be easy, but humans are not the sort to give up. This was not a task they had to do alone for the lands they found themselves were inhabited by another species--called spirits. These people were more than happy to help man adjust to their new home. A mistake some say for the spirits people were a simple and peaceful race whom knew nothing of the darker emotions and desires that motives man more often than they wish to admit.
These people were changed. Some claimed that man directly influenced these changes for whatever reason. Others claimed that it occurred on its own--that these people were so deeply connected to their world that they cannot help picking up the emotional energy that a place holds, and the stronger the emotions the more these people absorbed it. Whatever the truth, those spirits were different. Those spirit whom were unchanged became scared. No one had any idea what these changes meant, and they became afraid they were going to lose themselves within the process. They decided that something needed to be done to save their souls, but they could not agree on what it should be. After a long debate, they eventually decided to take their people whom did not wish to be influence by man into the depth of their most dense forests, and those whom did not care whether or not they were changed or those whom were already changed would protect those whom have chosen to dwell within the forest from the influences of man.
It was a perfect situation made more perfect by the fact that the race of man promised to leave these forest alone. They said it was the least they could do for all the help the spirits had provided them, but men are a shorted lived people with an equally short memory and within a few generation they had forgotten their promises. Those whom had vowed to protect those whom decided to retreat into the depths of the forest had not forgotten their promise, and managed to protect their charges for eons. However, the passage of time made this task increasingly difficult. Humans are determine bunch. Not only that, their reach extended farther than anyone believed. There were those spirits within the depths of the forest that were being changed, and once again they were faced with the age old fear of being destroyed.
Some of them decided that the only way to keep this from happening was to drive man back to the lands they had come from, but man had forgotten they had come from another land and didn't respond well to being pushed out of what they considered to be their home. A great war broke out that destroyed a number of the forests that the spirits were using as a safe haven. A new type of spirit called demons arose from the ashes of these destroyed forests--Philippe's mother was one of them. Their powers was different than the other spirits. Their powers were considered unnatural or supernatural--because they worked outside or against natural make-up of their world. Both humans and spirits feared these new demons and they decided to join forces to deal with them. Some suggested they destroyed them, but others were quick to point out it was destruction that created them in the first place. Of course, not everyone agreed with this. They claimed that destroying these demons will be like destroying fire with fire, and if they didn't put an end to them their entire world will become nothing more than ruins.
Those whom were against this idea feared that if they carried it out that this would lead to the world's destruction. However, they would not see if they were right for these new demons were clever, and used their powers to make everyone forget or simply overlook their existence. They kept to the shadows--watching the world around them. It was during these observations that these new demons decided that they had been created to rewrite the world. They were given powers outside of nature because that was the only way to force the fabric of this world to take a different shape. The only question was how they were suppose to do it. They each had their own opinion on how it should be done, and several made the attempt with the passage of time but none were successful. Their failures did not discourage them, but with each one the idea that time was running out was reinforced. They believed that if they didn't manage to rewrite the world that it would end, and with each failure there was evidence they were getting closer to their true demise.
Unlike the other of her kind, Philippe's mother didn't share the belief that the world was going to end if they didn't manage to rewrite it. She wasn't even certain they were suppose to rewrite it. That is until she came upon a little girl named Aneska, and upon seeing this child his mother was filled with this overwhelming sensation she was looking at the end--whether it hers or the world she did not know. The only thing she knew for certain was she had to stop her nightmares from becoming real. After debating with herself for awhile on how to handle this situation, she decided the best course of action was to bring Aneska underneath her wings. Philippe's mother decided the best way to keep Aneska from rising up against her was to shape her into someone whom would never dream of doing such a thing, and the best way to do that was to make her into a whore. His mother was a madam at a well-to-do brothel---perhaps, even one of the best in all the lands.
It didn't didn't take much to convince Aneska's parents to give her custody of their daughter. They were poor, and like many families in their situation they decided that giving their child to a brothel was better than watching her starve to death. Philippe's mother brought Aneska to her brothel and begun to teach her the art of being a prostitute, and turning her into the type of person whose only thought is pleasing others. By doing this, she hoped to remove any rebellious urges for her. Aneska grow into a beautiful young woman, and it came time to sell her virginity. The selling of a young prostitute serves as a symbol that said the apprentice was ready to entire the field as a professional. It, also, served as a way to help the community. The money was often used to help the less fortune, and as such it was often regarded as the big social event of the year.
The man whom ended up winning Aneska's virginity was Philippe's father. He was considered the most eligible bachelor within all the lands. He was heir to one of the most prominent families, and he was very handsome. One of these alone would have made him quite the catch, but both made him near impossible to overlook. He had suitors flocking far and wide in hopes that he might pick one of them to marry. However, his father never showed them any such interest. He was polite to them. He even took some to his bed, but the thought of marriage never crossed his mind. That is until he met Aneska. It was love at first sight. Both were equally drawn to each other, and this did not make Philippe's mother happy. One she wanted Philippe's father for herself, and two she feared what might happen if she allowed their relationship to blossom. She decided to ensure that never happened. After they spent the night together she did everything within her power to make sure their paths never crossed.
Aneska lived within the brothel for several years until the night of The Great Revolt. People had been unhappy with the government, and they decided that night that something needed to be done about it. All across the city chaos erupted. Business--including brothels like the one Philippe's mother owned, houses of prominent figures or simply those people blamed for their situation were burnt down. A number of people died in the fire or simply just vanished, and when everything cleared Aneska was one of them. Philippe's mother had no idea if she had died within the fire, or if she had made it out alive. She told herself that if Aneska made it out alive that because of her training that she would come back to his mother, but she had doubt about how effect her training was. There was a part of her that believed if given half the chance that Aneska would rebel against her, and when she didn't come back that part of her believed Aneska was out there living her life as a way to stick it to Philippe's mother.
After The Great Revolt, Philippe's mother took the chance to seize more power. She decided that the only way to keep her fears regarding Aneska from coming true was to rewrite the world in such a way that she would be powerless. She, also, took the opportunity to get the man she wanted---Philippe's father, after all a Goddess deserved the best. Of course, she had other lovers. His mother was never the type to settle for just one, but it was clear to everyone that Philippe's father was her first. This became even more clear when she bond him to her. The years marched on, and she had several children with his father and a few with other men, but she bonded with none of them that is until Philippe came along. She knew before he was born that he was different, and this feeling only grew after he came screaming into the world.
It was clear that Philippe was her pride and joy, and the one whom she looked towards to be her heir. She made sure he only had interactions that influenced him in the manner that she desired--including with his father. This didn't make his father happy. He didn't like his time with his son being controlled in such a manner. He felt as if he was watching his child grow from a distance. Even when they were in the same room he was not allowed to touch Philippe. His mother already dominated so much of his father's life, and he accepted it. However, this he could not accept. Perhaps, he had never liked the role Philippe's mother had granted him. He might have accepted the role he had because he believed he had to, but he decided enough was enough. He was not going to live underneath her reign any longer. He was going to free his people from her tyranny. Most of all he was going to free his son, whom he believed in spite his mother's best effort was more like his father than her. He rebelled.
Many people thought Philippe's mother was going to crush this rebellion in one fell swoop. This was not the first rebellion that took place since she took control, and she was always quick to put an end to them. They believed she would do the same with this one, and they thought she would do it in the exact same manner she had done with the previous ones by killing the leader. However, that didn't come to pass. She didn't try to, and if she found anyone attempting to take his father's life she was quick to end them--often times painfully. Some said this spoke volumes of her love for him. Others claimed that she was unable to kill him, and she only ever desired him because of this. Philippe and those whom had been alive before the great revolt came to believe that Phillip's father like Aneska made his mother feel as if she was looking at the end, and that she wished to seize control of him to stop it from happening.
Whatever the truth, this rebellion was allowed the flourish and many people flocked towards its cause. Everyone agrees that this will mean a great change for their world, but not everyone believes it will be a good thing. There are those whom fear what the world might become if her reign ends. Some whom support her, and others whom simply believed that things could be worse. These people flocked to his mother's side to aid her in stopping the rebellion. However, the fact she refuses to kill the rebel leader has many believing she had signed her own death ticket. Even if she changed her mind and ordered the rebel leader's death there cause has soaked into them so much that a new one will simply rise up and take his place.

Present
Time marched on until Philippe had grown. He has become his mother's right hand--her most trusted confident. This doesn't surprise anyone, because it was clear from the moment he was born his mother intended to make him her heir and now it appears this dream is becoming a reality. She has given him control over aspects of her kingdom--some say too much control. Mostly because his mother has a hard time relinquishing even the slightest bit of control and they find it difficult to imagine anyone else in charge. However, Philippe doesn't care what they think. His mother clearly has faith within him, and it is not anyone's place to say that she is mistaken. The rebellion is still going strong, but nothing compares to the fact that Aneska has appeared. It might not have been something they found out as soon as they did if she hadn't decided to come to one of his mother's brothels.
It is unclear why she made this decisions. Perhaps, it was merely his mother's training in play or perhaps it was just the simple fact that since she found herself displaced in time it was the only familiar place she knew. Whatever the truth, she made her way to the brothel and upon arrival everyone knew whom she was. His mother has spoken of her often---fearing that she would return. This fear had died down after enough time had passed where in order to show up once again some supernatural force had to be at play. His mother still spoke of her because she was not the sort to dismiss any possibility no matter how remote. The receptionist called someone from the main office to escort Aneska back to her room. She knew that this was what his mother would have wanted, and Philippe upon hearing Aneska was at the brothel decided to do it himself. He was curious about this woman he had grown up hearing about, and not just from his mother. His father spoke of her often.

Aneska knew whom Philippe's father was as soon as she saw him, and she didn't protest when he told her he had every intention for her to go back into her old position. He doesn't know what her arrival means. Will she remains as she has been trained? Nothing more than prostitute whose sole purpose is pleasing other? Or will she one day rise up and bring about the end that his mother fears? Than again, perhaps she will be an example of a self-serving prophecy, and that by training her not to be the end she had trained her to be the end. The only thing he knows for certain is that he drawn to her. He claims that he only wishes to get to know her because of his parents, but the truth he finds himself drawn to her for his own reasons. He has no intention of admitting this, but the fact he visits her all the time might have people suspecting.
